Jazzoo 2007
As part of my duties at DEG, I get to be the project lead for pro bono accounts. One of these most popular events is Jazzoo, a creative black tie gala at the Zoo to benefit the Zoo Learning Fund. The pro bono part of the account is that instead of getting paid, we get to attend - the entire office! It's a really great event with a LOT of food, fun, dancing and drinking. Here are a few photos from this year's event:
Trish (my date) and me on the NEW Endangered Species Carousel | Left to Right: Lisa (Retail/Support), Dan, Jason, Wing & Dave (all the guys are engineers) | |
Left to Right: Steve (Account Service), Ferris, Dan & Wing (other three are engineers) | Left to Right: Jenna (Sky's date), Sky, Rita (Greg's wife) & Greg; Sky & Greg are engineers |

Kid and a Dolphin

Ok - it was pointed out to my friend Ramsey that this is actually a Beluga Whale, but I have to agree with him - using the title "Kid and a Beluga Whale" isn't as catchy and cute!

Daily Puppy Fix
Need a little "puppy love" everyday - but don't have a puppy? Now you can have one on your blog, Google homepage, or just take a visit whenever you need a little puppy smily to light up your day.
Copy this link into your blog or Google homepage (and I'm sure other places as well!)

My Cat is a Stalker
We have a gray puffball also known as a cat - Puff. Also, Puff-Daddy, Puffy, FluffBall and now, to me at least, Stalker.
He's always been a clingy kitty, but lately he's just been downright scary. Wherever I go, there he is! He'll sit and stare at me for hours at a time. Not trying to be petted or cuddle, not purring or mewing - just sitting and staring. Even if I kick him out of the room, he'll sit in the doorway and stare. I've even caught him "peeking" around a corner to stare.

My husband thinks I'm nuts of course, as do the kids. But, it's just freaking me out! Not much I can do about it, but figured if I put it here, maybe someday, someone will give me insight into the sudden onset of stalker tendencies in this goofy cat. If nothing else, hopefully you got a good laugh!

Zoo Pays Feng Shui Expert to Aid Monkeys
The Los Angeles Zoo paid $4,500 to an expert in the ancient Chinese art of feng shui to ensure three endangered golden monkeys on loan from China can have a strong life force.
Consulting the feng shui expert was part of the cost for a $7.4 million enclosure for the golden monkeys debuting at the zoo later his year. Feng shui focuses on balance in design to promote health and happiness.
Feng shui is in demand among high-end architects and interior designers, but Beverly Hills-based feng shui expert Simona Mainini said the Los Angeles Zoo's effort may be a first in animal enclosure design.
''It's very experimental,'' Mainini said. ''We don't have any books on feng shui for monkeys. We just have to assume that Darwin is correct and that there is a connection and what is good for humans is good for monkeys.''

"I'm not sure if feng shui really works and I definitely don't agree with Darwin's views on evolution, but I like how this zoo is trying to treat their animals!"
